John F. Treanor has been a Director since 2001.
Treanor served as President and Chief Operating Officer of the Corporation and the Bank from 1999 until his retirement in 2009. He has more than 42 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Washington Trust, Treanor held Chief Financial Officer positions with commercial banks for ten years and previously served as Director of Corporate Planning and Mergers and Acquisitions for a major Boston bank. Treanor is a member of the Board of Directors of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston, where he serves as Chairman of its Finance Committee, and served as a member of the Board of Directors of Beacon Mutual Insurance Company from 2009 to 2014, where he served as Chairperson of its Audit Committee. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Thielsch Engineering, Inc.
Treanor’s qualifications to serve on the Board of Directors include his strong background in banking and finance as well as his extensive knowledge of regulatory and governance matters.
